Manage groups

Use Directory → Groups to organize Account members for authorization.

Create a group

Account owners, admins, and members can create groups. Guests cannot.

  1. Open Directory → Groups.
  2. Select Create group.
  3. Enter the Group name.
  4. Review or change the Group key.
  5. Select Create.

The creator becomes the initial group owner. The group appears in the collection after creation.

Manage group members

Open a group, then use Add member to add an active Account user. The group owner, Account owner, or Account admin can manage membership.

To remove a member, select Remove member for that person and confirm. The person loses access granted through the group. Access granted by another group or direct policy remains separate.

Edit or delete a group

You must be the group owner, an Account owner, or an Account admin to manage the group. Use Edit to change the supported group fields or transfer ownership to an eligible Account user.

Deleting a group removes the group and its memberships from future authorization decisions. Open the group, select Delete, and review the confirmation before you proceed.

Verify the result

Confirm that the group detail page shows the intended owner and membership count. Review the member list before you use the group in an authorization policy.

Recover from a failed change

Check your Account role and group ownership if an action is unavailable. If saving fails, keep the error and reopen the group to check its current state before retrying. See Troubleshoot Admin.
