# Add and verify a domain

Add a domain to the selected Account, publish its DNS TXT record, and verify ownership.

## Before you start

To add or verify a domain, you need the [Account owner role](/docs/admin/concepts/roles-and-permissions) and permission to change its DNS records. Other roles can review domains when their service permissions allow it.

## Review domains

Open **Domains → Domains** to search the Account's domains and filter by **Pending verification**, **Verified**, or **Disabled**. Open a domain to inspect its status and creation and verification dates. A pending domain also shows the TXT record to publish.

## Start verification

1. Open **Domains → Domains**.
2. Select **Add domain**.
3. Enter the root domain, such as `example.com`.
4. Select **Start verification**.

Admin creates the Account Domain with the status **Pending verification** and opens its detail page.

## Publish the DNS record

Copy the **Type**, **Name**, and **Value** shown under **Verification record** into your DNS provider. Publish the record exactly as shown. DNS changes can take time to become available through public resolvers.

## Verify ownership

Select **Verify DNS**. When the Domain service finds the TXT record, the status changes to **Verified** and Admin records the verification date.

## Delete a domain

An Account owner can delete a domain only when no hostnames claim it. Deleting the domain removes its Account registration. Open the domain, select **Delete**, and confirm. Check that it no longer appears in the domain list. Remove or move every claimed hostname before retrying if the service rejects the deletion.
